Crop Top City

Kimono: Forever 21 (loving this one herehere, and here)  | Crop: Forever 21- here (loving this one here, and here) | Distressed Levis: Urban Outfiters | Booties- Nasty Gal (almost identical version here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff- here | Watch: Michael Kors | Necklace: Rue 21 (super old) | Rings: Forever 21/Random finds | Sunnies: Rayban

Ohh crop tops- where do I start? The moment I saw this trend I thought to myself "Oh thats cute, lets start a trend that only models and 16 year old girls who can still eat whatever they want and not get fat can wear….now please go away". However, this trend only got more popular throughout the summer-- and I swore to myself I would never give in.
I cannot stress enough how much of an advocate I am of dressing for your body type… yes these trends are cute but why try to put 10 lbs of flour in a 5 lb sack (are you are catching my drift)? Know your body, know which cuts, silhouettes , and colors look flattering on you; and know which ones don't and stay the hell away. And if you do not know- email me, and I will gladly tell you. I am not a size 2, nor will I ever be. I have grown up playing sports my whole life, I have an athletic build and broad man shoulders (insert Mean Girls quote)- so for you girls built like me, this is how you can pull of the crop top, even into the winter. Rule #1: No more than 2 inches of skin-- Pair your crop with high waisted shorts, skirt, etc. in order to make sure that no more than 2 inches of skin is visible. Crops also come in different lengths for you girls with long torsos like me :) Rule #2: Structure- Pick a top with a structured silhouette which makes you look slimmer. Rule #3: Sleeves- this rule is especially important so you can wear your crop into winter (think with a cute high waisted full skirt…um YES), this rule is also great for you girls, like myself who have broad, athletic shoulders because spaghetti straps are not always our friend. For this look I threw a kimono over my crop top.
Kimonos also made a huge statement this season…and I have to say I am obsessed. A printed kimono can instantly change the look of any outfit-- and even better you can wear kimonos year round! Long sleeve, floor length kimonos will be a great winter staple.

Thank you so much Kayla, of Kayla Sellers Photography for snapping these pics. The pure talent you have is evident with every picture you take. Hat Game Strong

Kimono: Necessary Clothing | Dress: Tobi | Hat: Milk & Honey Boutique (Similar herehere, and here)  | Booties: Nasty Gal | Necklace: Charlotte Russe | Hand Chain: Milk & Honey Boutique | Lipstick: MAC Russian Red

So you know when you are on day 4 of not washing your hair, you have used almost half a bottle of dry shampoo and you are starting to question whether you are a 24 year old woman who has her life together or a 11 year old with Lisa Frank and Jonathan Taylor Thomas posters in her room refusing to listen to her parents and take a shower…..just me? Hope not.
Anyways….whether you are delaying washing your hair or having a bad hair day-- cue the felt hat. I am telling you guys I am turning into a hat hoarder and I don't know if that is because I like hats and feel like I can pull off the "I just threw this on and I still look put together" look, orrrrr if I just don't like washing my hair. It might be a tie.
Either way hats are huge this fall, so listen to me now and go out and buy like 17-- and then send me some too and we can go brunch in them together. I have linked a few of my favorites up top-- Urban Outfitters, ASOS, and Free People offer some of my favorites!

I think this might have been one of my favorite outfits and location that Kayla Sellers and I have shot together. Sorry not sorry for uploading like 30 pictures, all of them turned out so great-- thank you Kayla for taking these for me. Ya'll this girl was standing out in the middle of the street almost getting hit by like 6 cars in Deep Ellum to get these gorgeous shots for me! Talk about dedication! Everyone go check out Kayla's Facebook page, Kayla Sellers Photography here! Be sure to check out her work-- from Senior photos, families, weddings, to newborns she literally does it all and is so fabulous!

My Kind of Workout

Shirt: Etsy | Skirt: Zara-Old | Shoes: Just Fab | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (Similar, fuchsia version here) | Sunnies: Rayban

As much as I wish I were one of those girls who loves working out, finds it therapeutic, etc…… I am not. I don't think a single pair of my yoga pants have ever seen a yoga mat (umm so curious to know the percentage of women who buy Lululemon and actually work out in it…..hello girls/moms trolling around the mall with your perfect hair and makeup in workout clothes). I grew up my whole life playing sports, for 13+ years of my life I worked out almost everyday, so now that there is not anyone forcing me to run in 107 degree heat-- (um might I point out that working out everyday also means you have to wash your hair almost everyday…. no thanks) I would rather take my cardio matters to the mall.
Whether you workout daily, or live a lifestyle like me which consist of running to the mall/fridge/my bed-- you need a fun tee like this. I have gone cray buying graphic tee's lately and dressing them up with more feminine pieces-- like this beaded skirt. (BTW this skirt weighs like 5 lbs).

A Big thank you to the most fabulous photographer of them all, Kayla of Kayla Sellers Photography for snapping these pictures for me! We always have so much fun working together, so all my girls, seniors, couples, families need to check out her page with her amazing work here!! Her fabulous website is also coming soon….. I can't wait! Thank you so much Kayla for sharing your talent!

Lets Talk About Impulse Buys...

Dress: ASOS (on sale!) | Shoes: Just Fab | Bracelet: Kendra Scott | Lipstick: Mac Ruby Woo

I could write an entire love poem about how much I love this dress, ever since my style spirit animal/separated at birth sister Courtney Kerr wore it in a blog post months ago. This was one of my many impulse buys… did I have a place/event to even wear this dress? (lets be real this is not your everyday, out to dinner dress) Nope. Do I have a boyfriend to take me out on a fancy date in this dress? Even bigger no. So basically I had no business purchasing a dress this sexy/beautiful with nowhere to wear it. But you know what? Who cares… sometimes you just wanna buy something like this because it makes you feel damn good. So I did. And it is probably one of the best impulse buys I have ever made. I will be honest though, some serious side-boob action takes place in this dress-- especially for you ladies gifted up top (aka not me). However, some double sided fashion tape should do the trick! So after my mini rant the point of all of this is…. every once in awhile (whether you need it or not) you just  gotta make an impulse buy and then go buy a bottle of wine and drink it (the whole thing!!) and then I promise after that you will totally justify your purchase-- and maybeeee even go online and make a few more in your wine drunk haze. (Not that I have everrr done that before).

And once again, a BIG, BIG special thank you to my super fabulous photographer, Kayla,  for taking these pictures for me! Thank you for supporting my blog and my fashion journey. Everyone go check out Kayla Sellers Photography here!

If I were a Gypsy...

Dress: Lulus (Very similar here - seriously obsessed with this one) | Jewelry: Forever 21, Michael Kors, and other random finds

I'm back frolicking in the water again….totally normal right? Probably not….however wearing gorgeous maxis such as this one, and dressing them down to make them casual- a big YES in my book.   This maxi is great because it can also transition to fall- just add a chunky sweater or kimono!

Once again I cannot think my sweet friend Kayla from Kayla Sellers Photography enough for shooting these pics for me… and let me tell ya'll this is not all as glamorous as it looks. It was literally 100 degrees, sweating like crazy we had to hike, crawl under and over fences, and hold back tree branches from whacking each other in the face in order to get these pictures. All while toting around all of Kayla's equipment and my stuff. So if that doesn't tell you how dedicated of a photographer Kayla is then I don't know what other proof you need. Thank you SO much Kayla. Everyone do yourself a favor and check out Kayla's photography page here !
