Make a Statement

Shirt: Gap | Skirt: Forever 21 (similar eyelet skirt here) | Necklace: J. Crew (sold out, OBSESSING over this one here) | Belt: Forever 21 | Heels: Urbanog | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: Luxe Craving

Since I am still avoiding the realities of "big girl world" by going to grad school, I work as a nanny on the days I do not have class. Therefore, I literally wear sweatpants and comfy jeans for my "work" attire (not that I am complaining). However, I envy those of you who have big girl jobs because you have an excuse to dress up everyday! I would like to think this outfit is something I would wear once I enter the real world!! I am sure those of you who actually have jobs where you have to wear work attire everyday are shaking your head saying " noooooo, enjoy those sweatpants as long as you can girlfriend"! I am sure I will regret saying this in a year or two, but until then- I like to call this my "big girl/real world attire".

Don't even get me started on how in love I am with this J. Crew statement necklace, I would sleep in it if I could- I really love it that much! Not only are J. Crew's clothes to die for but they make the most AMAZING statement necklaces and jewelry, they are on the pricey side but so worth it if you will be wearing them regularly (or sleeping in them, like me). However, I have learned the hard way that if you see one of their statement beauties you better snag it up ASAP because they sell out super fast! I had to stalk track down this one on eBay to finally get my hands on it, worth EVERY penny in my opinion!

I often get asked where I get some of my statement necklaces and jewelry, here are some of the places I have snagged some super cute and affordable statement pieces, be sure to check these out:

Dress Up

Dress: Urban Outfitters | Boots: Forever 21 | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff | Watch: Michael Kors | Sunnies: Rayban | Bracelet: Luxe Craving

It is officially dress season ya'll!!! I am pretty sure dresses make up at least half of my closet, and I LOVE it! I was instantly gravitated toward this dress when I saw it in Urban Outfitters, it is chambray and the crochet detail on the waist is the perfect feminine addition! Throw on some booties and you have the perfect weekend outfit!

Thank you Kayla, of You're my Lobster Photography for these pics, these might be my fav-I could say that about all of the pictures she takes though. If she can capture lovely pictures of someone as awkward as me then trust me, this girl is talented! Check out You're my Lobster's photography page here!!

I'M BACK!!!

Lace Shirt: Boutique find, nearly identical here (and in multiple colors) | Maxi Skirt: Tobi, very similar here | Sandals: Dillards (old) | Monogram necklace: Etsy | Bracelet: Luxe Craving | Watch: Michael Kors | Sunnies: Target

Hello all!! I am officially back, or for all of you who watch Duck Dynasty as Uncle Si would say "I'm back, Jack"!! But really, I know this has been like the longest blogging vacation EVER but between making a big move, starting grad school, and a job I needed some "me" time to get my new life together and get in some type of a routine! I even considered not continuing this blog, I would sometimes think to myself "I do not have enough time" or "does anybody even read this, or care about it?" but then I got to thinking, none of that really matters- of course I love it when all you lovelies read my posts, or leave sweet comments- but the biggest reason I wanted to continue is because this is something I love to do, I get excited to experiment and plan different outfits everyday, and share this portion of my life that I can one day look back at. I guess the one thing I hope to get out of this is that somebody reads my blog and thinks "hey, I can recreate that outfit or something similar" or "I can pull something off that I was afraid to try before". Most importantly, I hope through my posts and the pieces I wear that others realize you don't have to spend a lot of money to be fashionable. Sure, I would love to have Blair's closet of Atlantic-Pacific or Rachel's of The Pink Peonies but that is just not within my financial means (AKA- broke girl's budget). All in all, I am excited to be back and share this with everyone!!!

Who else would I choose to do my pictures other then my fabulous friend Kayla, of You're My Lobster Photography?! She has been more than amazing and is super talented, go check out her photography Facebook page here!!
